Resolutions

It's a new year and as always I've made resolutions. This year though, it's not just my usual vague mutterings about eating less crisps and more muesli, and possibly going jogging.

My resolution this year is to do something I've wanted to do for ages. I'm going to turn all those doodles in my sketchbook into some actual finished drawings and maybe, if I'm very lucky, sell some of them as prints or cards or something. That's the plan, at least.

So I'm going to stop procrastinating, stop being such a perfectionist, stop worrying, and start drawing, start making, start creating, start turning all the ideas I have into something real, start actually finishing my projects.

This week, now the kids are back at school, I've been busily working on and perfecting some of my favourite drawings which I am going to turn into prints and cards for a Folksy shop. I'm hoping to have a set of drawings ready by the end of the month. I'm working on a set of animal drawings (owls, hedgehogs, elephants so far...) and a set of people drawings.

I've realised drawing makes me very happy. I think creating something from nothing, focusing the mind on one thing, making something, anything, is very satisfying. And I plan to do much more of it and I'll share some of my finished pictures soon.

So that's my resolution this year. And also to eat less crisps.

Let me finish this first post with something completely unrelated and quite wonderfully random. Two facts about clouds that my 5 year old taught me last week:

1. Fireflies live in the clouds and make them look golden

2. "You know, you can't see the clouds' ears because they're camouflaged"

Just in case you didn't know.
